April 26, 2021 The following is a quick compilation of events, not necessarily related to the Black Sheep Tower House, that took place during our time in Maryland and beyond. The house plans are basically done, and we are taking a bit of a break… and here’s a bit of our life in the interim!
Dunkin’ Donuts is EVERYWHERE in New England. There is a DD less than a mile from Sheep Road in Lee, and no matter the time of day or night, we have never passed by without seeing a car in the drive-through…. in fact on the weekend mornings there are easily a dozen cars in line, and backed up onto the road. Why do I mention this? Well, the colors for Dunkin’ (they seem to have dropped the donuts from the name) are pink and orange! Not colors that traditionally go well together, but here we have some very vibrant azaleas at home in Maryland, but more importantly, Josh’s lovely bride Parker – colorfully clashing with red, orange and pink, out for a ride in the Nepal Orange 914, and almost ready to pop! We are very excited. 🙂The day after I drove back to Maryland, we flew out to French Lick, Indiana, the site of the July 2021 Porsche Parade (national convention). Bob and I have somehow become perennial volunteers, especially for the Porsche Club and Porsches in general. My role as the Gimmick Rally Chair requires me to travel for a long weekend each spring and fall to plan the summer Parade rally. This was it – the best time for Bob and I to travel together and get the most out of the trip…. We were definitely in farm country (I really wanted to use that hog as a Rally Question for the Porsche themed movie Doc Hollywood , but by the time we got back in July, she was Hoosier Bacn’ in the Makin’, and the pen was full of SHEEP. No black ones though!!) We went to a local Drive-In Movie Theater (we used as the rally end point to show the classic racing movie Le Mans) where Bob ate an entire bucket of popcorn by himself! And on the rally route itself, we found an historic mansion restored to its former glory… and an awesome barn with pretty cool architectural features, that reminded us of another big building needing complete restoration… oh wait, that would be ours!! (insert eye roll! and thank heavens ours is not actually sagging in the middle!)We were definitely into the Rally thing, after our trip, so we tried our luck at the Potomac Spring Rally. We drove “Audrey” the 1980 911 SC (named after the former owner’s Aunt Audrey, a great gal). Anyway, she was the best thing about the rally, because we bombed it. Sometimes it is not good to “overthink” things! When was the last time you saw an old fashioned (and working) phone booth? It was a clue on the rally (but the barbed wire fence thing is a little unsetting)! Bob wore his VMI ball cap for good luck, but it actually transferred to a young cadet from VMI, who was the navigator for her father on the rally, and completely busted everyone’s chops. You go, girl! Great job!The day after the rally I got my second vaccine, and boy was I thrilled! YAY. The irises were blooming at the end of our driveway, Sydney was using her extreme lazy dog talents to literally clean up wherever possible, and I was baking many batches of cookies for the coming weekend – the All Porsche Swap Meet. 🙂
We found the most amazing house in Lee, NH and purchased it in the summer of Covid, 2020. This is the story of how we fell down the rabbit hole… our story begins in May 2020, and while I’ve been documenting all along, blog entries are somewhat behind (but will catch up)!  For the story from the beginning, go History of the Black Sheep Project, “select a month” and start from the bottom to read in chronological order.  Gallery photos within each post should enlarge with one click; use the back arrow to return to the blog post (or some photos may open in a new window).  There is also a search bar for the entire website.  Have fun, and down the rabbit hole we go.
