October 16, 2020 The second day of our lightning system installation continued the work from yesterday. Bill and the guys were VERY patient and helpful with my questions and need to document the process in photos. Bob is still in Maryland, so this way he can still see what’s happening. Yup, Bill estimated we have about 1000 feet of copper cable in our house!
The left photo is the opening to the attic above the lab, which will become my art studio. This room, which was a workshop space, is above the furnace room and you can see the pipe going up into the cupola with the window. The middle photo is at the other end of that attic, where it steps up into the attic above the apartment. Copper cabling runs under the ridgeline throughout, as seen in the apartment attic on the right. There is a LOT of real estate to cover! The apartment is the only “finished” room that needed the walls cut out to install the cables, but we would rather have that then see them installed outside. Besides we will be repairing and renovating the apartment in time anyway. These are the corners closest to the road in the living room and in the bedroom. Sydney likes to stay close to the action and the people, and yes, she is spoiled with 2 beds! This is the only copper ground rod that could be drilled and installed the required 10 feet. There is way too much ledge and rock around otherwise. The rest would be installed with ground plates, when the team returns next week. So far so good!
We found the most amazing house in Lee, NH and purchased it in the summer of Covid, 2020. This is the story of how we fell down the rabbit hole… our story begins in May 2020, and while I’ve been documenting all along, blog entries are somewhat behind (but will catch up)! For the story from the beginning, go History of the Black Sheep Project, “select a month” and start from the bottom to read in chronological order. Gallery photos within each post should enlarge with one click; use the back arrow to return to the blog post (or some photos may open in a new window). There is also a search bar for the entire website. Have fun, and down the rabbit hole we go.
